Family Practice physician and Founder of Call Scheduler,
Over 15 years of Practical On-Call Scheduling Experience:
In 1988, Family Practice physician, Patrick Zook, M.D. began working with a talented C+ programmer in Minneapolis. They created DOS versions 1.0 and 1.5 of Call Scheduler with almost exclusive Minnesota sales for several years. As the Internet opened up marketing possibilities, sales in other states allowed an even broader assessment of real-life call scheduling needs in clinics of all sizes across the country.
Early history included attendance at several medical administrative trade shows especially the Minnesota Medical Group Managers Association (MMGMA). Dr. Zook and his earlier associates attended the MMGMA trade shows for several years. He also attended some of the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) conventions in Minneapolis and provided numerous on-site training sessions and Call Scheduler for DOS demonstrations in Minnesota and Wisconsin health care organizations and clinics. The wealth and breadth of this firsthand physicians' on-call scheduling experience has all been rolled into the development of Call Scheduler™. His experience as a delegate of the Minnesota Medical Association and Minnesota Academy of Family Practice, Chief of Staff at the St. Cloud Hospital, Presidency and Board of Directors positions of the Stearns-Benton County Society, and 26 years as a practicing Family Physician have provided plenty of background for developing computer software that will make life easier for physicians, other health providers and their administrators. Dr. Zook, his wife Penny, and their three children reside in St. Cloud, Minnesota since taking his first and only position as a Family Physician with the St. Cloud Medical Group in 1977.
His personal experience with call scheduling began with the usual manual methods in the 1980's. As his group of Family Practitioners grew, so did the demands of creating an on-call schedule. When he took over the manual on-call duty, his group was barely able to produce two or three month's scheduling at a time, and since the job was more of a "traveling trophy" usually given to the newest doctor in the group, the process, like most manual scheduling "systems" was never standardized. Since he had a great interest in computers since the early 1980's, his partners suggested that he just go out and "buy a program that does call scheduling" after he began to produce word processor-generated call schedules. Obviously, there was none at the time, and the early seeds of Adjuvant LLC. were planted.
Now, the hard work, persistence and over 15 years of scheduling experience have come to fruition with the exciting release of Adjuvant's Call Scheduler™ in 2000 and it's continuing success and development!
